I'm looking to apply to USC as a freshman. Nobody in my school this year got accepted, including the ones that got into Harvard and Brown university....I'm serious. The only reason why I want to go is because of their financial aid and awesome locality. I would like to know the stats - such as gpa, test scores, extracurricular's, background history, and ethnicity - of applicants that actually got accepted to this school.

I find it hard to believe that your school has Ivy acceptances yet no USC acceptances, but take a look at this:

http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/private/1011/FreshmanProfile2010.pdf

Those are the admission statistics for the Class of 2014. Admission for the Class of 2015 was slightly more competitive (1-2% lower acceptance rate, probably higher SAT middle 50, etc.), so you might want to wait for USC to release its Class of 2015 statistics, which should come around August.

This is an informal thread we do every year:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/1074764-usc-fall-2011-stats-only-decisions.html?highlight=fall+2011

If I learned one thing from that thread, I learned that, while stats are very important, USC puts a ton of stock in the “full picture.”

Nah, none of us got in, we’re all just chillin here, living our fantasy lives of attending USC Cinema and attending classes with the beautiful girls of Southern California.

In other news, check out the Freshman Profiles as zd suggests, and I’m sure you can find the stats/decisions thread for every year if you search these forums.

SC gets a little bit more competitive each year; with the Common App though, that little may be a LOT this year.

I feel like I lost all hopes of getting into this school after looking at that thread. I’ll probably end up with a 3.5UW gpa at most and my test scores aren’t all that great either. Everybody that got in is absolutely perfect.

What year in school are you?

^I’m a senior

David,
SC considers the entire application. Do you have any special talents? Have you been a community or regional leader? Did you initiate a program for a charity or done some unusual community service over a long period of time? Have you had any of your writing published? Have you had to overcome some physical challenge? Are you the major support of your family?

So many factors can affect your chances for admission. Apply, but send in other applications to universities you know have the major you need. Be sure you have a “safety” that is also a financial safety.

I’m a perfect example of someone who didnt have good stats–1890 and a 3.66! I still don’t know how i did it, but stats aren’t everything at USC!

Since i didnt have the stats, i made sure everything else was great e.g. essays, i interviewed, emailing counselor, extracurriculars, etc.

I think talking to your counselor at USC is a really great thing to do!

also it doesnt hurt to be really really ridiculously good looking ;)

David,

Itl be pretty hard to boost your cumulative GPA past the average 3.8UW as a senior, but it only takes one day to land a 2200+ on the SAT. You still have a few months for that. Study hard lol.
