How many of you checked the race box on you application? Do you have faith in affirmative action at stanford?

Yes and No.

Indian
Persian (first gen?)
Asian
Jew (legacy)
Whiteguy

Im none of the above but all got rejected except one deffered... guess who? Oh, and most of them are in the top 2%~ of the class. And their EC's were fairly impressive.

Honestly tho, i dont know what Admins want these days =/

I didn't check the box. I guess part of it is because it wouldn't help me any, but really I am opposed to that kind of evaluation of me as a student.

i take it the "whiteguy" got deferred?

i checked it. i'm white

i checked mexican american. im not really planning my race will help me, but who knows.

I checked Asian.

It's pretty obvious because of my name.

Nope, the Jew, and its funny b/c everyone thought that of all the people who didnt have a chance she got in lol(based on whatnot). So theres really no "ticket" into stanford. Just hope :)

AAis just there to do something, but TBH seems like Stanford admins are at a level to play russian roulette with your app.

PS The whiteguy wasnt really expected to get in either before people start reading too much into stuff -.-

yeah. There was no reason not to check b/c it was so obvious I was korean--a lot of Korean based activities, and the name, of course

Not referencing stanford specifically, but a lot of colleges really only consider "URMs" Under-represented minorities. As far as I know there are only three: Hispanic, Black, Native American.

I did because I'm half-and-half and my last name doesn't show it...cuz it's only one of course haha. Well, I guess some people do have compound last names of both parents but not I.

I checked Asian, but yeah...my VERY Korean name kind of gave it away anyway. :p

I checked Indian... or Asian American or summat like that
