So do I HAVE TO take the SAT II?

I got a 2310 on my SAT reasoning, but I'm usually a terrible subject tester, which has been proven by my practice tests. Is it still forced upon you to take the SAT II to even potentially get in?

THANKS!

Yes. 10char

Of course you HAVE to take it. its not like the SAT where you don’t have to take it and you could take the ACT instead. It’s mandatory so I’m pretty sure if you don’t take at least 2 your application will be considered incomplete. I know its hard but you can only study and try your best :)

You HAVE to take it.

You got a 2310 on the SAT, so you must have done very well on the Reading and Math sections. Take the SAT II Lit, which is IDENTICAL to the critical reading portion of the SAT, and the SAT II Math I, which is similar to the Math portion of the SAT. Or just take the incredibly easy SAT II US History.

Is it also mandatory if youre doing IB and are an international?

@pwoods hold up there. the SATII in lit is much harder than the SAT critical reading section, and the SATII math 1 contains a few things the SAT math section doesn’t cover.

I’ve taken both of the tests, and got a 760 on the lit, but i didn’t send it in because i got my score well after the application deadline. The scores i applied with for SAT II’s were both only 660s, and I got in. They were easily the weakest part of my application, but it didn’t matter. Don’t worry too much about it. Just do your best.

“the SATII in lit is much harder than the SAT critical reading section”

I guess this comes down to personal taste. I didn’t find it much tougher than the passage analysis sections of the SAT. I found the AP slightly tougher, largely because you have to write essays. I’m sure I’m a bad judge of its true difficulty because critical reading comes relatively easy to me. Full disclosure: I got an 800 on CR, a 780 on SATII Lit, and a 5 on the AP. But the OP also got an 800 on the CR section of the SAT, so I’m betting they can do well on SATII Lit.

As far as math (which is my weak point), I agree that the SATII Math I is tougher than the Math section of the SAT. Personally, I took Math II because it had a greater curve, and I still did much worse than on humanities subject tests.
