So... do I need to scrap my essay?

I wrote a narrative about a certain day in Costa Rica when I was volunteering couple years ago.... It doesn't really come to a solid conclusion about how the trip changed me/what I learned (even thought I did)

I showed it to some people and one pointed out that I should include how the trip changed me.. So I tried to add in some parts, but now it seems so "cliche about volunteer essay"... Should I take his advice??? I think I might just write a whole new essay if that's the case. :(

umm, i really can't make a judgement until I've read the essay but i agree with why you are afraid of being cliche.
I mean, if your personality shows through, it does not ALWAYS have to have impacted you in a dramatic way. The essay should have a point but don't force it.
PM me the essay if you like.
