So...do I still stand a chance at Yale

Well, its been a couple of months since I have seriously started thinking about where I may be accepted come this March/April. I occasionally post these chance threads to keep me in touch with reality so that I can prepare myself for this oncoming event. So...I was deferred from Yale SCEA...how do my odds look for getting into Yale or any of the HYPS RD? Believe I am OPEN to negative feedback...so be completely honest!!!

Thanks in advance,
Robbie

Great GPA & SAT scores. However, everything and I mean everything(essays,EC,awards, passion,LOR, Etc) must come together for any student to make it. Also, a little luck helps since there are so many qualified students. I think you’re chances are better than the standard 7%. You’ll probably make it to the final cut were all the very hard choices are made. Good Luck

You’re from Nebraska which is a geographical plus. You seem to have great stats as well, but what sets you apart from the other thousands of kids who are applying?

Yes i think so, but you know as well as i do that it’s hard for anyone to get in. And a lot of it depends on how well you put together the soft components of your application. Good luck, your statistics and awards are certainly in the right range!

Everything looks good.

I do believe that you have a great probability of receiving acceptance into at least one of the four universities. Also, I recall reading your essay a couple months previously and I thought that your personal anecdote’s application to your academic interests was a very positive feature in your application.

I’d say it depends on the other Nebraskans. As long as you had a good list, you’re bound to be accepted to several very good schools.

Yes, but you already knew that. Calm down, from last year’s results several people who got deferred and even rejected from Yale ended up at Harvard and Princeton or similar caliber schools. The fact that you are from Nebraska will almost guarantee that you attend a top school unless, of course, your essays are dreadful which i doubt.
