I think that if I really hate Pitt, I will transfer out ASAP. If I do transfer, hopefully I go to like UNC-Chapel Hill or something like that…I didn’t want to go to Pit in the first place (lol) but since I am going there due to rejections (bleah) and money (double bleah), I will try to make the best out of it…but I predict a 40% chance of transfering out!
What about you guys?

Going into college with the idea that you're going to transfer is a bad idea. You should give your college a chance -- you never know what will happen!

Lecture aside, I'm a freshman at UCSC and I was ready to transfer at the end of the first quarter. However, going in, I would've figured I'd be staying there. Things changed, a lot, and so now I'm looking at moving on. It happens, but don't /make/ it happen prematurely!

It would be surprising that a college would let someone transfer in after just one semester at another school. But one never knows.

And what's so horrible about Pitt?

Hey neelesh...

I am thinking the same thing, in fact, I am looking into it. Maybe stick it out for a semester at a UC, then off I go to (hopefully) a school better suited to me. Worse case scenario, I stay at a UC for one year.

Good luck!

Lurking girl and neelesh, a warning. Nearly every college requires transfers to have COMPLETED one semester before applying to transfer. That means you can't apply for transfer until AFTER your first semester grades come in. What that translates to is that, unless you are planning on taking a semester off, you will spend at least a year at your first school.

Additionally, some schools require a full year of college BEFORE the transfer application, putting you well into sophomore year before you can actually make the move.
