Title speaks for itself. I'm looking at the UT business school, and I was wondering if there is a special significance to being in top 5%.

I think the business program automatically accepts applicants in the top 2%, but past that it doesn't really matter.

Whats ur class rank?

The admissions counselor there told me that they automatically except the top 1%, then they fill in empty spots with the top 2%, and then it's a battle of the resumes (but obviously UT seems to really emphasize ranks in general so the higher the better).

I got in at 4%. I'm 3% now, but the decision had already been made.
So, not being in the top 2% isn't a kiss of death, but it'll make life more difficult.

My class rank is 5.4% right now, I'm in the hardest possible course schedule right now though (7 APs by end of Junior year) and full IB. On a side note how much does UT look at the course rigor?

A friend of mine's daughter just got in and she was top 7%. Don't think she had outstanding test scores, so I am not sure what did it for her.

Calm down, McCombs isn't that hard to get in. If you go to a good high school with good SAT score, nothing to stress about.
If all else fails, just do an internal transfer like everyone else. Just take some BS easy classes your fish year, get a high GPA, and transfer.
