I’m a junior at a public high school in Pennsylvania. While I’m not applying to college just yet, I wanted some advice on my stats so far. I’m aiming for top-tier universities, with Columbia as my current top choice (may be subject to change but it’s been that way for 6 years) to major in Chemistry or Economics:
GPA:
3.98 (unweighted) 4.622 (weighted)
Scores:
I took the SAT in August, but my score hasn’t been released yet. Also my PSAT-10 was kind of trash but I’m projected to do much better this year because I no longer suck at math!
PSAT–1340 (720 R&W, 620 Math)
AP World History and AP Psychology–5 and 5
World History SAT-II–790
Activities: (for privacy’s sake, I’m pretty vague here)
-State Young Dems Board
-Academic Team JV Captain/Varsity Competitor (captain next year)
-Campaing Internships
-Interfaith Activism
-School News Paper Section Editor x2 (most likely editor in chief next year)
-Nationally-ranked Speech and Debate competitor with success on the National Circuit
-Writer for some political blogs, potentially editor of one of them soon
-A little bit of theatre
-Of course, random volunteer experience as a debate coach, hospital volunteer, and community garden volunteer
-NHS and FHS
-President and founder of Red Cross Club
Courses taken:
-All Honors and AP except for gym/health which is required and one gifted program discussion course
-So far I have taken/am currently taking the following AP courses:
-World History
-Psychology
-Language and Composition
-French
-Biology
-Chemistry
-US History
Next year, I plan on taking the following AP courses:
-Calc AB
-Comp. Gov
-Physics I
-Literature
-Economics
I also plan to take a course at a local university to keep up with French.
Demographics:
I’m a South Asian (probably not favorable), high middle class, suburban, Muslim female.
I’m not really looking for end-all be-all advice here but just an appraisal would be nice.
