I know people who are planning to live off campus, they say it's cheaper. My parents won't deal with the paperwork to move into an apartment...for now, at least.

Firewalker, if you're a sophomore you're over 18. Meaning you can sign a lease to your own apartment. You really should stop depending on your parents through your adult life. Are they going to sit in the car while you go to your interviews too?

As for me, I decided not to transfer so I'm just hanging out, taking a summer class so I'm at NYU almost everyday then I go to my job afterwards.

Where were you planning to transfer to? I'm doing Cornell ILR next year. NYU is alright but I think Cornell will be better.

Stern is much more superior than any comparable (business-esq) dept at Cornell. I want to be an investment banker, not a human resource.

I could...but why deal with unnecessary debt when my parents are willing to shell out $$,$$$ for a de facto apartment? The tradeoff isn't worth it.

I personally would love an apartment, but then again. This year (sophomore) the dorms are in amazing locations. Sure you can find cheaper apartments but where will those be?? Way In the east village? no thanks. An apt at union square will cost you as much as the dorms, even if you are lucky enough to find one. I

I'll take a gym and dining hall in my building anyday... Just think about it, a condo with a restaurant and a gym in it (with a pool) would be ridiculously expensive.

Motherfu*kin TITCR.

Cept I might not end up with such amenities. :p

"I want to be an investment banker, not a human resource."

You'll never be an investment banker...I bet you don't even know what an investment banker actually does.

i don't think they put up the housing info yet. not till late july/early august. but didn't everyone pick their dorm down to the room during the lottery? i did at least...

by the way, nyu is not for those who struggle financially. it's for those whose parents either have money or work their ass off (and yes you can work your ass off and have money). my dad declared bankruptcy the year i applied. i'm fine and have less than 10 grand in loans over combined fresh & soph year.

summer is definitely for work. i can't wait to go back in september.

& can we all relax a little? it is summer isn't it? save the heat for fall...

Your right, I rele don't know what an investment banker is...however, i do know what a hedge fund does. Its like landscaping....like hedges, you know? I interned at a landscaping company so that will help because I've cut plenty of hedges. and i saw that internships are important
