So...football tickets

How do you get them?
Are they cheaper for students?
Is there any way to go to games without buying tickets or being part of the marching band?
Do more upperclassmen attend rather than freshmen?

To answer your questions:

1: You will receive an email from USC after attending orientation.
2: Student tickets are $155 I believe, and are cheaper for students.
3: No, how would you expect there to be a way to get into without a ticket anyways?
4: Pretty much everyone goes to the football games, except for the students I see studying in Leavey while I’m outside tailgating.

you can get in by being part of the marching band for free but I don’t play an instrument so I was wondering about anything similar.

And you can still tailgate without actually going to the games right?

No, they have LAPD stationed all around campus that scan your ticket to make sure only people going to the game can have fun. Only then are you allowed to tailgate of any sort…YES you can tailgate without going to the game.

To clarify, it seems like most student tailgating happens on campus, so anyone can tailgate. Some older people (e.g. grads, local fans, etc) tailgate at Exposition Park, but even there, you don’t need a ticket until you’re about to enter the Coliseum itself.

I’d recommend getting a ticket, though. USC football is such an awesome, unique experience! (And I say this having had absolutely no interest–perhaps even anti-interest–in football before I came here)

Oh, also, if you work for performance venues (e.g. Bovard, Ground Zero, Tommy’s Place), you have to take tickets starting a while before kickoff until halftime, but then you get to get into the games for free.

Yah I’m trying to tickets but I still haven’t received an email about that…all I get are DPS notifications.

My daughter went to orientation. They never told her about football tickets and she never got an email. BUT… She got her first choice parking garage. Sooo happy she doesn’t have to park behind the radission.

I was actually behind the Radisson in PS2 I think (the one on the north side of Expo) and it was just fine. The walk was never sketchy or anything, very well lit, and it’s just a stone’s throw away from New/North. Unfortunately, I lived clear on the other side of campus, so it was still inconvenient, but not too bad.

I started getting emails about buying my season ticket last year on June 28th, which was a few days after I got back from orientation, I’m pretty sure.

I have two questions regarding football tickets. How likely is it to get the football tickets as an incoming freshman or will they have enough for every freshman? And my second question is can you sell your tickets to certain games that you will not be able to attend?

I think there should be enough for all incoming freshmen as long as you order them in a relatively timely fashion. I didn’t buy mine until August 10 and I was fine. The seats aren’t assigned, they’re just first come, first served in a specified student section.

Since the season ticket is stored on the USCard, you can transfer your ticket to any one game (or more) to another student. There’s like a $10 processing fee or something, I think. I don’t think USC particularly cares whether or not you charge the recipient for the use of your ticket as long as you don’t charge more than face value, though I could be wrong. I’d imagine that would be hard to govern, though.

If I buy a student season pass, and my family comes to see a game does that mean I won’t sit with them when they get tickets because the student section and reserved sections are different? I was just curious, because my family was looking at tickets and it seems like almost all of them are gone already and I didn’t know if I would have to buy an extra one simply to sit with them. Thanks in advance!

Corvin, your family needs to buy a game ticket for you as well in order for you to sit with them. Student Season Tickets are only for the designated student section in the Coliseum.
