so here's the big question.

I'm a black/latino/white student from Minnesota,
I have a 3.3 GPA due to some laziness my sophomore year for two quarters, but Im workin on fixing it ie: 3.6+ GPA each quarter from then forth, so an upward trend in grades. I've done well in speech and will be captain, theater, and policy debate, as well as been part of a volunteer effort for breast cancer for two years, and I volunteer at the children's hospital and play a role in my church community. My ACT compostie was a 29, and I got a 33 in math, a 32 in reading , but a 25 in english and a 26 in science.I plan to study biology or go premed once into college, what are my chances of getting into these schools?

1)UW-Madison
2)U of M -TC
3) St.John's University
4) St.Olaf
5)Macalester
6)Northpark in Chicago

great chance at all

Indeed; you have very good chances at those schools.

thanks you guys, but the question is, which one do I go for?
I mean, statistically which ones are gonna be better from a higher education point of view?

1)UW-Madison – Reach, because your OOS
2)U of M -TC – Match
3) St.John’s University – ???
4) St.Olaf – Match
5)Macalester – Reach
6)Northpark in Chicago – ???

UW-Madison offers reciprocity for Minnesota students, I thought it would be a reach a bit because of my cumulative being lower than Id like it. Macalester is a definite reach for sure, but if I could get to the college interview portion I know I cold shine, its getting there that is the problem. my safety net however is Iowa State and their school of sciences.

bumped again…please some input.

both minnesota and maryland are nearly equal in difficulty. about 18% of U maryland has under a 3.5, and I would expect the same for minnesota. Your ACT is in their range, but your GPA is not. Getting it up will help. Both would be matches, I expect.

I know nothing about St. John’s. St. Olaf’s is also a match.

Macalaster is definitely a reach.

North Park (based on a google search) is definitely a safety. With a 3.3 you’re on par with or above more than 70% of the school. The school accepts some people with a gpa that appears to be half yours.
