Yeah I always wonder why they try to isolate transfers from freshmen. But anyway, I won’t be bringing my car what about you? I just think it’ll be a big hassle anyways…I’m bringing along a bike though forsure.

Can’t you just live in the apartments (716/month) and get a year long meal plan separate (900/year for 19 meals per week)?

There’s COSTCO nearby?! Too bad I don’t have the card haha.

@Swagandtag: I don’t think the meal plan applies to apartments down in UCSB. Someone clarify please!

if i end up at UCSB, i am definitely going to live in the town of santa barbara. no question about it. downtown i suppose. it will be fun.

Chelz, I’m not sure yet. Having a car means parking fee, but you can get to Santa Barbara the city to shop without having to worry about bus. Don’t want to be carrying so much shopping bags on the bus. Is your bike one of those single-gear/fixed gear bikes?

Kitty, yeah, there is a Costco nearby. Also, there is a Best buy next to it too.

@north - yeah that’s where I’d wanna live, in downtown :)

UCSB Off Campus Meal Plan:

It actually looks like a ripoff to me now. Although, I don’t know if I’m deciphering the table correctly.

This is also only for one quarter by the looks of it.

Comments on this???

I’ve been to IV. Is it ghetto? Yes; its old, run down, and decaying.

I put my financial aid as living on campus, does that mean I can’t live off campus?
I’m not too much into the party scene, does that mean I should avoid off campus housing?

Did you check your financial aid award? check if you’re award is on or off campus

And watch out for drunk people at IV and downtown SB. They tend to mess up other people’s car.

lawlking is your award off campus or on campus?

@Citiz3nerased
yay, that is so cool. i really don’t care for the campus style institutionalized living, and i love the downtown area of santa barbara. it is really low key and nice. not much going on there, but it is still a cool old style california town. and i like to be around all kinds of people, not just students. for students who love college life and dorms, that is cool too. convenient and probably has benefits. my sister lived in dorms and she loved it—just not for me. so happy that the school is close to town and this is one reason that i might choose UCSB. it is also a fantastic school. we are so lucky to get to consider these things!

@philosoup: The only financial aid award I see is the unofficial one!

has anyone called ucsb for the whole off campus thing when everyone selected on campus?

@acoustic we all only get unofficial. does your award say off campus or on campus?

@philo: it says Off-campus!

on your FAFSA did you put on campus or off campus for UCSB?

I put off-campus.
