So .. Housing.

When do we apply for UCLA Housing? After we commit to the college? Or can we apply now?

As I recall, you can start applying as soon as you submit your SIR.

It doesn’t matter how early you submit your app though; The selection process for housing is a lottery.

So … I apply as soon as I submit my SIR? Hm I wonder what my friend was talking about then … She told me you can apply for housing without committing to that college o_o

I’m pretty sure you can apply anytime, but there’s a fee. If you’re not going to end up at UCLA there’s no point in paying that fee, especially since there’s no advantage to applying early. At UCSD there is no fee, so everyone is encouraged to apply as soon as they’re admitted.

Ohhh my friend was talking about UCSD so I guess that makes sense. Okay thank you!

Yeah, you definitely don’t need to commit. I just submitted the housing app and it didn’t mention anything about committing to UCLA, although there is a $30 fee required.

Also, there is an advantage to submitting early at UCSD, so it’s well worth it to get the app in ASAP
