So, how do I stack up?

I just got my MCAT score and was a little disappointed (in relation to what I did on practice tests). I got a 29. I have a 4.0 GPA at North Carolina State University, I'm doing genetics research (and maybe getting published), I'm an editor for our Undergrad Research Journal, and a bunch of other stuff I won't elaborate on. I was hoping to get into some good schools like UNC, Duke, Columbia, Johns Hopkins, NYU, or Yale. I'm pretty sure I'm going to take the MCAT again (I'm still a Junior), but I wanted to know what you all thought my chances would be at some of these schools given what my MCAT is now as well as my other stats.

Also, I'm a first-generation college student in my family, and I was wondering if this would have any affect on medical school admissions. Thanks a lot.

About Yale, DO NOT just look at the name. Yale med has a very very unique program. You have to be sure you fit in to their "style." Also they like "well rounded" and interesting students. But don't just look at the name. In regards to the other schools. Take an MCAT prep course get a 30+ on the MCAT, and keep up the GPA and activities. As long as you do that you most likely will get in somewhere, and probably into the schools you listed. It afterall is a numbers game.
