<p>Is it just one person who reviews your application and taps the buddy next to him to see if this kid is 'alright'?</p>
<p>From what I know, there are two counselors who review your application. The first one is usually a counselor that’s designated a certain geographical region, and they first screen it to see if you’re up to their standards. Then they make a presentation about you, and then the higher up adcoms decide whether to keep you or not. Don’t take my word for it, I don’t remember where I heard all this.</p>
<p>Read Harry Bauld’s book: It tells about the whole admissions reading process in less than flattering terms, gives great essay tips, and is very funny and a joy to read:
