I currently have one suitcase full of athletic shorts, other shorts, jeans, khakis, sweatpants, a suitcase of t-shirts, undershirts, polos, and a small suitcase of sweatshirts/jackets. And all my nice dress shirts/collared long sleeve (I don't know what to call them) shirts are still hanging in my closet cuz I'm probably going to bring them into my dorm on hangers so they're not wrinkled. Too much or does that seem about right?

How on earth can we tell you how to live your life

I’m talking about to bring to school with me, sorry if I didn’t state that clearly. And if you understood and chose to answer that way, then really unneccesary

Er, are you not planning on doing laundry? I bet you can take 1/3 of each type of clothing and still be fine. Either that, or use a bigger suitcase. Sweatshirts and outerwear are bulky, but you don’t need that many of those any way. Plus, you should leave some clothes at home so that you don’t have to pack as much when you come back for breaks.

Also, I’d only bring two or three dress shirts. I’m not sure how people dress at UVA, but I can’t imagine that everyone goes to class in khakis and button-downs.

the sad thing is I’ve heard they do… and they wear dress shirts and ties to football games

^If UVa is as similar to Vandy as I’ve heard (in terms of dress), yes everyone will actually wear that.

In which case, pack your button-downs and cut back on the T-shirts and jeans? Actually, I’m not surprised.

well i’m bring 3 pears of jeans, 2 khakis, like 6 pairs of shorts (cargo/crew/plaid) and a good amount of athletic shorts cuz i plan on working out, playing basketball, and hopefully being on the club soccer team. maybe i’m just really bad at packing

If you’re driving, send what doesn’t fit in the dorm home with your parents. I send home at least 1-2 full suitcases each year LOL

It sounds like you have a good amount, not too much, not too little, so long as this suitcase isn’t one of those monstrous, big-as-me suitcases (i.e. around 5’5" tall).

See if you can fit everything but the sweatshirts/jackets and nice shirts into one suitcase.
Try to cut your number of everything else in half if possible.

Remember that you’re going to Virginia though, sweatshirts and jackets won’t be worn daily for a long time.

I have a huge suitcase that can’t fit anymore clothes and a regular sized suitcase that is also full and I still have to find somewhere to pack more clothes. I brought that much last year and I still don’t think I have enough clothes. You’re fine. I wear khakis and button downs to class pretty often.

If you can not fit it in your closet.
