So how do you like Tulane so far?

Enjoyed post # 12. Agreed!!

I love Tulane! I’ve been having tons of fun here and the classes are great. Like pretty much everyone else has said, definitely a work hard play hard school. There is lots to do around campus during the day and at night and not just drinking. There are a lot of people that drink I don’t think that needs to be disputed. But you can go out and not drink (as I do about half the time) and there isn’t any pressure. It can also be tons of fun. If you don’t want to do that there are events on campus, which can be fun. Obviously some of them are kind of lame, but I’m sure that happens at every school. I’ve also had lots of fun nights staying at the dorms. We’ve had movie nights, ordered pizza or just been lazy. There are more girls than guys. And it seems like there’s a lot of gay guys but I guess that’s good for you! If you know anyone who goes here, it would definitely be helpful to see if you can spend the night with them. Or if not, just meet up with a current student and talk. Hope this helped! If you have any questions let me know.

very funny Jym - but appropriate

:)  :)

I am currently a Freshman student at Tulane in the School of Science and Engineering (Pre-Med), and I’d have to say that Tulane has been a lot better than I expected it to be. As a Dean’s Honors and TAP-TP student coming in with 60+ credit hours, I expected Tulane to be relatively easy and for everybody to be party maniacs.

However, it definitely has NOT been the case. I have many friends now who are capable of having fun without needing to go out partying (although it is true that many of them do so sparingly) - it was to my pleasant surprise that I realized that all I had to do was look around a little bit to find them. Of course, I also know a great deal of people who love swapping blackout stories and so on, but again, you choose your friends.

I definitely agree with most of the previous responses and definitely with wingo. I like to think of Tulane as a place where you can have a blast, as well as learn a LOT (depending on your professor, of course… I don’t know what I would do without ratemyprofessor.com). My courses this semester were challenging, but that might because of my slightly more advanced courseload. Bottom line - Tulane provides a lot of chances for both ridiculous fun and serious academics, but YOU choose what you want to get out of it.

Thank you tang, that’s a great post. Congrats on getting the nod for TAP-TP also. That is quite an achievement.
