So, how does it all work?

Well then, like most of you folks, I just handed in my last application (bunch of small, private LA&S colleges... should be interesting). Now I'm curious, what exactly happens to all those pieces of paper once everything is filed and ready to be reviewed? Who's the first person to see my application? Does the committee review them together in a single room? Does the committee review them one member at time in a hierarchy? Does the application have to go up a ladder, with semi-finalists and finalists being eliminated on the way? Is my essay read silently? Is my essay read aloud? Is it all some big algebraic formula which produces a number to show if I'm qualified or not? Do they look at things in alphabetical order? The order they received things? Do they randomize the order? Well, how does it work? Anyone know? Any former adcom members or knowledgeable parents out there?

(I'm not that familiar with this site... is this already answered somewhere?

And if you don't know or you're just a windbag child [no offense, windbag children], please don't post).

I'm as speechless as you are...

I think you should buy or borrow The Gatekeepers by Jacques Steinberg. It's written by a New York Times reporter who goes behind the scenes at the Wesleyan University admissions office for a year.

Ah, sweet, thanks!

i think on BU's website there is a page called, the life of an application. it explains what BU does which im sure is similar to what other schools do.

Awesome, there we go!

helllzzz yeahhhh :D

Rock on, girl, rock on! ah! ah! AH!!
