So how exactly do we get the scholarships we are supposed to receive?

Do they just subtract it from your total tuition & fees bill? Cause I already paid about $2180 for this semesters tuition, and the site is asking me to pay another $2500 (which I have no idea what it's for). I know a semester's worth of tuition is a little over $4000, so did they already deduct my scholarship funds from the tuition bill? I'm confused as to how the whole receiving of the scholarships works.

Go to your bealonghorn account and log on. Click Financial Aid Status. What does it say your total FA is for Fall 2011?

I already know what it is. My question is when and how do we receive that scholarship aid

If it is more that your tuition then it is distributed behind the scenes when you hit the “pay my tuition with financial aid button”, then if there is money left over you will pay your on campus housing the same way. If you are living off campus or if your FA is greater than your on campus housing plus tuition, it is distributed via check or direct depoist (you sign up for that on CASH) a few days after classes start.

I’m also confused Ooovooo. I already hit the “pay with financial aid” button and it still displays my full tuition amount for the semester. (my financial aid should cover my first semesters tuition)

Where exactly is this “pay with financial aid” button? Cause I don’t see it on my tuition bill page.

If you do not see the “pay with financial aid”, that means your aid is not enough to cover your tuition for the semester. You have to pay using a credit card/bank account first, and then sometime in September, the scholarship money will be transferred to your bank account (if you set up your EFT bank account already)

Wait so financial aid doesn’t pay for school? It pays us?

Wouldn’t it make more sense to subtract our scholarship/loan money from the tuition bill

It depends… most of the college-specific scholarships are given directly to you. My engineering scholarship is deposited into my bank account a few weeks after each semester starts.

How do loans work then? My financial aid consists of 2 types of student loans, a few scholarships, and 2 grants. As far as I know, you can only designate one bank account to receive money, and it will be my parents account since they will be paying. Will the loan money be deposited into my parents’ account, but I still pay the loan after college?

This is really confusing

I don’t think that Financial Aid distributes funds until the 12th class day. Why, you ask? Because they don’t want you to grab the money and then withdraw. I would call Financial Aid to ask these questions though–they are the most knowledgeable about what is going on with your tuition bill.

On mine, I got the Top Ten Percent Scholarship. They just deducted it from my loans. They told us that whatever the university doesn’t take out for tuition and other debts, they will give to me to pay my off-campus housing, books, etc. I believe that if you are paying out of pocket or via loans, then they will apply it to your tuition, and you cover the rest.

The question is, when do they apply the money to our tuition?

My tuition bill page states this:

No further action is required. Registration is complete and courses are secured. Prior to 09/09/2011, a balance will remain until your financial aid is applied.
