Imposible to take out a loan - we'd be rejected even for a small one. My parent's credit score has gone from nearly perfect to about a 300 since the job loss. There are NO jobs where I live at all - rural town of about 2,000 people with no large cities nearby. We have a car and a house, but they shouldn't factor in since we are about to LOSE them.

Nobody ever said the world of college financial aid was fair. Everybody gets screwed one way or another...

Given you situation I highly urge you to work closely with the FA office....did you parents end up calling them the other day? They will do their very best to help you. My parent's situation and my short credit history made it very difficult for me to finance my education...but Cornell helped me do it.

Yeah..we called. They said they'd call back but the office was closed today.

yeah....their summer hours aren't the greatest.

I was wondering when you send in your financial aid info if that is seen by adcoms at all or if it is handled separately by other people?

Your financial aid information is passed along to the financial aid office. If you are accepted, the college will inform the FA office to create an aid package for you.

The adcom won't see it...otherwise admissions wouldn't be need-blind.

I appreciate the clarification, and that is good to know.
