So... how favorably would colleges look at this sort of increase in grades?

freshmen - 3.1 uw, 3.3 w
sophomore - 3.58 uw, 4.08 w
junior - 4.0 uw, 4.64 w

will it show that I have learned well? or i'm lazy?

ehh bump. (10 chars)

they'll love it. which colleges u wanna apply to?

some colleges that don't look at freshmen year: princeton, berkeley, stanford
and...
UF, Upenn, Johns Hopkins, UChicago

UMich also ignores freshman year.

Some people on this board think that colleges will reject an applicant like yourself. But I think it is completely absurd and downright stupid if a college rejects an applicant based on his freshmen grades.

yeah, I agree. but I'm worried about my chances at big name schools.

The colleges that don't 'count" freshman year do consider rank in most cases. And at non state schools, and some states too, rank is more important than gpa. So if by big name you mean a top 20 school, that doesn't really seem possible. After top 30 or so, you should have no problem with a good SAT.

Hey jonhnytremain whe you said that priceton and stanford and U chicago don't look freshmen year? what do they place more weight on the other years or what?

It's not that they reject someone because of his freshman grades, they'll just accept those with higher freshman grades (given that's the only difference)
It wouldn't make sense to do otherwise

whoa penn doesnt look at freshman yr either? thats awesome...i had a 2.7 fr yr and i thought it would screw me over...

nooo, the only ones that I listed that don't look at freshmen year are berkeley, princeton, and stanford.

"some colleges that don't look at freshmen year: princeton, berkeley, stanford
and...
UF, Upenn, Johns Hopkins, UChicago"

what am i supposed to make of the last 4 then?

i'm sorry for the ambiguity.

UF doesnt look at Freshman grades?

How would a 3.2, 3.4, 4.0 look to them?

ahh, I meant that only stanford, cal, and princeton doesn't look at freshmen grades. all the other schools I've listed do include freshmen year.

haha ok. lol ;)
