so how important is that picture anyway?

Must it be in portrait form?

I don't take many photos of myself so far the only good one I have is a photo fo me playing in a chess tournament with another person.

the point is to be able to get a personal feel for you and what you're like - so seeing your face is kinda important, glamour shot isn't so necessary.

If that's the criteria, well, I scrounged the internet for photos others have taken of me -- haha, I don't have anything else than photos taken at award ceremonies. I don't get my picture taken often. :o

Would it be really funny/pompous to send a photo of yourself with a medal on?

Or, an atlernative ...

Would it matter if the resolution was somewhat grainy and poor (but you can definitely see all the features of my face), or would that be seen as insulting?

why dont u just take a picture right now and send that one?

I made a "I <3 Penn" shirt and wore it in the picture =P

the way i see it, if you're hot, it doesn't hurt to show it in a picture. charisma definitely helps (an extremely extremely small factor though)

would senior pictures be a pretty safe/standard way to go? If I don't include a pic, does it seem like i'm less interested?

senior pictures would be good. i just wouldn't go for something too corny (i <3 penn) but what do i know? people have done that and have gotten in.

to me, if you don't have a picture you seem less interested (possibly insecure about yourself? i dunno maybe i'm looking too far into this). but the whole point is to present the application as yourself, and if you have your picture it seems much more personalized.

I think slightly grainy pictures are okay (I hope!). I sent in a slightly black and white picture of me taken on a friend's mac, but I thought it portrayed my personality the best (plus I had sparkling eyes and the cutest smile ever =P). It'll make the adcom feel worse when they're rejecting the cutest girl ever.

I honestly cant see adcoms caring much about the picture. I mean, even in my head it sounds stupid: "Hey, this guy has such a bad picture. Nah! Reject!"

I (poorly) superimposed my face over a picture of Superman in MS Paint and got in.
