So how many applicants are there?

So how many applicants are there? and what is the expected accpetance rate

aren't there something like 1050 ED applicants?

Last time I heard there was 1005 ED apps. Most likely a third of those people will be admitted. I think this is the largest ED pool in quite a while.

ED acceptance rate is 60%

^^^^ dude...if you are serious about that stat being valid this year, I will give you a hug....

Sadly, I believe that mdkeung's estimate of 33% accetpance rating is a better estimate...

i bet acceptance rate will be low for ED this year since theres so many people..

"Number of early decision applications received: 618
Number admitted under early decision plan: 362
Number enrolled under early decision plan: 331 "

this is from collegeboard.com

maybe its so high cuz of recruited athletes

college board didn't update that number for awhile
i think that was from like 2001 or 2002

wat?
are you serious?

those College Board numbers are from 2002. and as I have posted numerous times about the ED applicant numbers and specifically the admit rate -- it varies drastically every year depending on the size of the applicant pool and especially the QUALITY. there is no set acceptance rate for ED applicants - so the numbers will vary year to year.

this year -- here is what we know right now...

(1) applicant pool is close to 1050 - a near 50% increase from last year

THAT'S IT. The adcoms are busy reading all the applications and no decisions have been made on admit %, number of admits, etc. These decisions will not be made until final decision are being finalized.

The one thing you can assume, is that the admit rate will be lower than previous years as the adcoms do not want to fill too much of next year's incoming class with ED students. The number usually varies from 25-30% of the incoming class and will stay there once again.

Now stop worrying about things you can't control, and stop predicting things that the adcoms don't even know yet.

I cannot think of a more bs situation... the one year I apply to my dream school the ED apps rise by 45%... there is no one in particular to be angry with... but I am angry/nervous...

I think what's happened is people began to finally realize that ED to JHU was a backdoor way into the school. The ED acceptances that collegeboard has on their website are probably the main culprits. 60% chance at acceptance for a top 20 university? People realized this eventually and wised up on how to get into a good school.

Well if they think it's a backdoor into the school you really have nothing to worry about. They're probably less qualified.

lets hope...

"Well if they think it's a backdoor into the school you really have nothing to worry about. They're probably less qualified."

You made my day by saying that...THERE IS HOPE!!!

actually, I think more and more people apply to hopkins through early decision each year, and the applicant pool gets stronger and stronger. It's hell for everyone, always.

shhhhhh spikedsoymilk. let us live in our delusions, its the only comfort really.

h e h e

I have already accepted I am not getting in. I am setting my sites on a small liberal arts school in my state where I can get a full ride for 4 years. I'll attend a top 20 medical school because that's what really matters in my career. There's no use beating myself up over my crappy freshman and sophmore grades. If only I had the drive I had now then... Oh well... it's done...

Good luck to the rest of you...

^^^^ I'm having the same exact feelings right now...

I know that I won't get in...what a waste of time and effort...life sucks...

haha when people with better stats than me are throwing in the towel. eek.

this is very sad. very sad indeed. i'm the one who is supposed to be bemoaning my chances. not the smart people!
