Don't have their license? It's almost the end of my junior year and I could've gotten my license a few months ago, but I was being such a failure and didn't sign up for Drivers Ed (I am signing up to take the classes at the beginning of the summer).

Anyone else in the same boat as me? I feel like I should've gotten it already because it just becomes another thing I have to do this summer.

I don’t either. I passed the test with a perfect score but my glasses weren’t ready in time for the driving test. After that I just never followed up in getting it. To be honest, its not worth my time as I would not be able to drive by myself until I am practically 18, so why not just get it at once. Better use this time to practice sat/learn AP material.

I don’t. My high school gives us a bus pass and I don’t really have time to drive anyway. I doubt I will learn before this summer, I might not start until the summer after senior year.

I didn’t get my permit until 3 months before my 16th birthday. I got my car and license the summer before senior year. I just turned 17 (May). I got my car in June. License in July. It’s not that bad to be a junior and not having a license. It becomes a drag to be a senior and not have a car, though.

^^Yeah, that’s why I wanna get it this summer so I can have it during senior year when I won’t be as busy after college apps. It’s just this summer is busy enough, so I feel like I should’ve gotten done with it during Christmas or Spring break when I could have.

And I actually took my permit test pretty late too, a month after I turned 16. My dad kept freaking out and made me read the book like 8 times before he let me take it. I read it once and just pretended to read it more times when he told me to, and it was the easiest test I’ve ever taken.

Me. It’s sad because where I live, you can start driving at 14 and be fully licensed at 16. I think I’m going to learn how to drive this summer and get a license before I go to college.

I know a lot of juniors who don’t have their licenses. Some of them don’t have the money, some are scared to drive, and some just straight up don’t have time to take drivers Ed. It’s really not a big deal and on the bright side, you never have to drive people around. I have my own car and spend soooo much on gas because I’m always assumed to be driving whenever I go anywhere with friends. You could just wait till you turn 18 too, because then you don’t have to pay to take the class, you can just go take the test at the DMV!

I’ve had my temps since mid-2011. I took Driver’s Ed early sophomore year, and then last June I took the driving test. But I failed it and I haven’t practiced at all (not a big fan of driving) so I haven’t gone back. My parents are pressuring me a lot to get my license.

I don’t have my license yet, but that’s only because in my state, you have to be 17 and I still have another month until my birthday. I do have a permit though, and I basically drive everywhere we go! I can’t wait until I get my license and have my own car because my mom works crazy hours so I’m basically stuck at home. That’ll hopefully change soon! :)

I don’t even have my learners yet hides behind hands
its not my fault, my parents just don’t have the time to take me I’m ready for it… ughh I’m mad I’m not going to be able to drive til midway/end of senior year

Where I live, you can get your learner’s permit at 16.
My birthday is late May, so I would be behind most people in my grade anyways.
But I am a junior now and almost 17 and haven’t touched a book or a car or anything.
Truthfully, I see no reason to. It’s just a bunch of money. I’m not planning on going anywhere. The only place I go to is school, and that is literally walking distance. I am also pretty close to downtown, if I wanted to go there. So it is an inconvenient walk, but doable. Sure, I can’t go to the movies or the mall, but I rarely ever do that anyway. On the rare occasion that I would, I would just get a ride from my mom, brother, or friends.
But aside from the money, I’m also scared. Not about crashing the car or getting hurt. I could care less about that. I just hate the thought of interacting with other people in the road and having to be assertive enough. Like I can’t even imagine pulling out in front of a car or turning in front of a car or anything. Which I find pathetic, but…

I got my permit right after I turned 16, then got my license five months later, just in time for junior year. Now I’m 18 and can drive whenever and whoever I want it’s a blast. Everything is far away (the nearest movie theatre is 10+ miles, my school is 4 miles) so it was completely worth it getting it as fast a possible b

I’m gonna be pretty bummed if the research I’m gonna do this summer clashes with the dates my Driver’s Ed classes will be, because my permit expires at the beginning of August and I don’t want any part of having to renew that.

i didn’t study at all and kind of blew off the online course, passed my permit test with 8 errors (max number to miss)! now i have to wait six more months for a license ):

I’ve had my permit practically since I turned 16 (when you’re able to get it in NY), and I just took my second to last driver’s ed class today! Yay! Maybe week I’ll start to have a life!
I have driven, however, a total of 3 times. So I’m not really so ready for the next stage.
As soon as I have 50 hours (minus the 24 hours from driver’s ed, minus 16 hours of observation, so really only 10 hours) logged (and I actually learn how to drive), I want to get my license. I can’t get it til the end of May, but timewise, it’s probably gonna have to wait til July.
