So, how r those ivies looking?

<p>Okay, here's the deal. I'm a senior at one of the most competitive public high schools in Alabama. Although I am not an URM or an athletic superstar, I'm taking the hardest classes offered and I think my stats reflect that. </p>

<p>My question is, what are my chances at admissions at the Ivies, specifically, Harvard, Princeton, and Cornell? Right now, I have a Tier I full scholarship (and a free laptop computer!) waiting for me at the University of Alabama. </p>

<p>GPA - 4.9 (weighted), 3.95 (unweighted)
Rank - 4 of around 300
PSAT - Commended Scholar
SAT - 1510 (780 Math/730 Verbal, second try)
SAT IIs – Chemistry (780), Writing (770), Math II (740)
APs taken: total 10; junior year: 3 (AP American: 5, AP Bio: 4, AP Physics: 4), senior year: 7 APs </p>

<p>Awards:
2nd Place at the Regional level of the INTEL Science Fair
KeyBank Division High Achiever Award
"Finding Fish" Essay Contest Winner (limited to participants around Birmingham)
8th in Alabama on the National French Exam
Summer Internship at the NASA Langley Research Center
Medical Research over the summer at the University of South Alabama
Attended JSA symposia (politics) at the University of Texas
A few city-wide awards for the trumpet
NHS, High Honor Roll, that kind of stuff as well </p>

<p>Extracurriculars:
Founder and President of the Student Political Club at my school (helped register teenagers to vote this year)
News Editor of the school newspaper (two years)<br>
TV Club: announcer and video cameraman (4 years)

Key Club (3 years), Committee leader of a literacy program (2 years)

<p>Miscellaneous:
Fluent in Russian (I was born in Russia and moved here when I was three years old)
I play the trumpet and acoustic guitar (lessons for three years) in my free time </p>

<p>Basically, I have three main interests, Politics, Science, and Journalism, although I am leaning towards something in the sciences. My teacher recommendations and my essay ought to be very good. </p>

<p>Cornell is a lock, HP are iffy but you have a shot. I would throw some other Ivies into the equation.</p>

<p>Slipper - I noticed that you've got something against Cornell ,Stanford and MIT for some reason. Are you a liberal arts major by any chance? I don't want to say that you sound stupid, but if you're not trolling on purpose, then I can say you don't know much about schools.</p>

<p>Intel, GPA, and SAT I's and II's look really nice. Geographic diversity is a plus as well. Your internships and research are nice complements to the rest of your application.</p>

<p>Apply to everything, obviously, since you have really great shots at just about anywhere.</p>
