John Chung’s SAT math book
Larry Krieger’s SAT 500 Essential Words
The Ultimate Guide to SAT Grammar

So first do the 1st Blue book practice test.
Then I want to start with the vocab, so do I go straight to the 500 words book?
What about PWN the SAT? I don’t want more books than I need. I’ll need to study as much as possible before Jan SATs.
And what about these 2?

Please tell me if these are all the books I need plus the blue book…so I don’t have to worry about it.

Also, can I have someone who is good at this to talk to me privately with instant messaging or something? I have too many questions…

Nevermind. So I bought these 5, and I plan on starting going through Essential 500 after I take a practice test. Then work on the grammar and essay, and math last. But do I take a practices test all at once or section by section? I’m still confused…
http://oi41.■■■■■■■.com/212admr.jpg

First just take a practice test to see which section you are best/worst in. Think of it as a Diagnostic test.

I’m not sure if you said that you took one already, but that is honestly the most important thing right now if you haven’t.

Start with your weakest sections. You can either do practice tests as you learn the material or study each section first and then do practice tests afterwards.

Ok so that would be CR/W. I’ll go with CR first. So basically go through the CR book only and first? When do I transition to math and writing? I only have until Jan 25.
I bought this instead of Essential 500.

And I just bought PWN the SAT Math Guide, I thought Dr. John Chung’s might not be enough.

I have all these books, idk how to study for it all before Jan 25.

I think I’m going to work on PWN The SAT Math Guide + the Insider’s Essentials Guide together after taking a whole bb practice (diagnostics) test. Take math and CR parts of practice test 4 and so on.
Once I see improment on CR and W, I will start with the Ultimate Grammar Guide. I will only use the 8 writing tests it comes with when I need it. I will get to PWN the SAT Essay Guide last and I might not get to John Chung’s, but I bought it anyway.

Is this good enough until Jan 25? I’ll start in the beginning of December when the books arrive, but I’ll do a diag test during Thanksgiving. Then I’ll keep studying until March for my 2nd time. Then focus on my other tests after March and then study for SAT 3rd time in the summer if I need.

And I’ll follow Silverturtle and Xiggi’s guide somewhat too.

How’s this?
Also for BB tests and any other practice tests, do I write in the book or in a notebook? And do I do a practice test just once or multiple times too?
And at what pace should I do the blue book tests? Do I finish all 10 tests before the Jan 10 date? or March 8? I’m going to buy the online course but not yet.

You could download the free practice test on the collegeboard website and print out about 10 of the answer sheets from the practice test and staple that together (and use it as your booklet for revision) if you want. I recommend leaving 2 pages of blank paper in between each set of answer sheets to allow you to write notes on.

Alright, that’s a great idea
I’ll probably write notes in a notebook or in between the blank paper like you said.
And for the prep books, I guess take notes on them in a notebook?
And do I take any of the practice tests in the BB more than once or just once?

I’m a foreign student and I haven’t a high english level, and i don’t know what’s the best book to preper very good the sat and get a high score. What do you recommend me?

Oh well I have a friend whose english isn’t at a high level either, but blue book practice tests is important…

So update:
I didn’t take an SAT practice test as diag, instead I took a PSAT practice test that I got in school prior to my PSATs. So I took it but I haven’t graded it yet, but I’ve noticed that the problem is mostly in CR with the vocab and even more so on passage reading. I always have like 5-6 questions left when there’s like 3 minutes left. In Math I’m fine but in Writing I struggle at the last few questions where it asks you to read a passage.

So it’s mainly CR and partially Writing. But it all comes down to time…
There’s no essay section on the PSATs, so should I take an SAT practice test (the 2013 one) as a diag or should I just start studying with my prep books and then take that later?

Hello? I’m gonna start studying.
I’m planning to do CR and W first, especially CR since that’s my weakest, and ignore math for a month (should I?)

Work on CR 1 day (The Insider’s Essential Guide to SAT Critical Reading and Vocabulary [Kreiger], basically Essential 500 plus CR tips), and Writing(Essential Grammar Guide, Meltzer) 1 day, and keep switching during every week (Take notes for CR and W but not Math). And a month later I’ll work on Math (Pwn The SAT, Dr. Chung’s), but same rotation. I’ll take sections of practice test once a week. I have PWN The SAT Essay guide but I’ll worry about that later.

So hard to decide where to start.

Sorry for the randon question, but does the SAT online course have 10 test papers that are not already included in the blue book? Thanks :)

You should probably start studying already. You don’t need our permission. Take practice tests from the blue book each weekend and work on your other books during the week.

I feel like you are really hesitant to start studying because you feel as if there’s an exact way to prepare for the SATs, and any deviation from that will result in failure.

It’s not like that… at all.

As long as you are doing SAT prep on a regular basis, it will all amount to a higher score in the end.

Here’s what I recommend:

Take the writing sections of the first BB test and score it (no essay). This will take you 40 minutes. Then take notes on each section of Essential Grammar Guide, work through the exercises. Review your notes between each cumulative test in the Essential Grammar Guide and when you finish the book, take the second BB test writing sections and score it.

You can literally do everything above and go up 200 points in writing in 1 weekend. One of my students had a 610 before thanksgiving break in Writing and did Essential Grammar Guide over the weekend. They just got a 750 in writing today.

Also, don’t worry too much about the essay.

I would do writing first just to build some confidence because I find it to be the easiest section. Even if you feel like you aren’t doing well with the Meltzer Grammar Guide exercises, it prepares you really well and the BB question errors will pop out at you.

Oh alright. I know I need to do full practice tests too though. And I was going to start with PWN the SAT Math first, but I’ll start that later since you said start with Writing first, then I’ll look at my Kreiger vocab book every day along with the grammar book and takes notes on both.

And yes I do agree, the writing is really easy, it’s just that I’m not a native English speaker so grammar is a bit confusing to me and it’s the most problems I have in my essays at school. However, some of the writing questions in the PSAT practice test I took last week (got it from school) were so obvious lol.

By the way, I have the complimentary book, 8 writing tests along with the ultimate grammar guide, should I use that first instead?

Also, I took the PSAT at home last week and I just scored it, I got…

57 CR
66 M
59 W
182 Total
(I got all last 6 questions of CR section 1 wrong, had no time to think)

Vs. my 10th grade PSAT
45 CR
67 M
50 W
162 Total

I actually did a point worse in Math ,I think it’s because I am naturally good at math but some of my math basics are still rough…and the time constraint.
I took the PSAT in school in 2 months ago but the scores are coming later this month…I probably did worse than a 182, but definitely better than 162…
So I’m gonna start from here…not gonna take a whole practice SAT test as diag, this will be my diag, I’ll do what you recommended solar for now.
