Well, I'll write a small program to keep searching for a login page on puwebp.princeton.edu so that if it is opened up early at 3/29 4 PM or something, I'll let you guys know.

Um...ok writing programs to find stuff out in advance...I'm pretty sure that crosses a line.

True, true, but it's akin to having someone refresh the page every five minutes, seeing that the page is up at 4PM instead of 5, and then logging in. Nothing that a person couldn't manually do.

Whatever, maybe I'll have an acceptance letter from somewhere else by then so I'll have something to read.

I see. Your call.

i tried to log-in and it didnt work. i did it before I read the NYU thread. Im freaked out now.

Don't be.

And the reason it doesn't work is because the "decision log-in" page linked on this thread is on a different domain (puwebq), as of now, than the publicly available login and registration page linked on Princeton's website (puwebp).

yeah its not illegal, and not hacking, but you cant get in trouble if you dont try it, who knows, it probably doesnt log the names of those who try it, and if it did it probably is to late and to insignificant to change your decision, but if you read the nyu forum last year you know its just completely not worth it

ergh if it says invalid username and password, cant find my email and cant send me my password if i put my username in, does that mean that i cant view my decision online, or just that the page isnt up yet...ive been getting emails about the application since i applied, but ive never been able to log in until recently, and now it seems that i cant again....so is it everybody that cant log in right now??

I don't know if I should laugh or be worried, but they took down the pages from the puwebq subdomain. I'm betting that it's because they do log all accesses to the site and log all login attempts as well. It just seems too coincidental that the pages just got taken down. I suppose that's my cue to back off and let them do their stuff, but I respect them for at least removing the carrot dangling in front of my face :P

For those who aren't techies, everytime you visit a website, the webmaster can see where you live (or rather, where your ISP is, which is usually within 100 miles of your house), what operating system you are using, whether you're using Firefox, IE, Opera, Safari, etc..., and neat little things like that. Mainly it's just so people can target certain web pages at certain parts of the population (people with Java support might go to an applet, those with JavaScript will go to an Ajax page, people with anything but IE will get XHTML for quicker rendering, etc....)

Anyway, my point is that they probably do log everything, just because it's so easy to do, and someone might try to hack past their system, but in this day and age, it's pretty hard to do as long as the web page coder is an amateur hacker him/herself.

Actually all this talk has given me a good business idea - a web service for colleges to release their admission decisions :P

princeton24601, what's the URL of the site you're logging in to?

THIS THREAD IS SO CONFUSING.
I'm trying to read it and all I can even begin to derive is that someone thought they had found the admissions decisions website and could hack into it or something!?

I'm soooo computer illiterate.
Oh well, at least I don't have to worry/think/ponder about this!

What a ditz lol. (No offense meant obviously)

Hahaha THANKS mallomar. I REALLY appreciate it.

Lol nothing posted on the internet should "REALLY" mean anything to you :)

Haha kidding.
Well, I'm REALLY kidding.
Uh.
Whatever.
OK so I don't know why I'm putting it on this thread, but today my history teacher was talking about Pope John Paul (the first one) and how Pope John Paul II came after him, but now he thought that the second pope should have been named George Ringo.

Hahahaha. I laughed for like...20 minutes.

Well my govt class is essentially a riot so it's a 1hr laugh/talk period every day. There should be a major in humor.

maybe they have a phd at a clown school.

Hahaha. My classes are all pretty much FULLY ridiculous at this point of year. We've kinda started reviewing for the AP test in Bio and my friend came up to me yesterday and was like "Hey...you know what I wish?" And I expected him to go on some rant about how he hates AP practicing and he hates our biology teacher or whatever, but instead he was like "I really wish that I were DNA helicase...because then I could unzip your genes[jeans]."

Hahaha. I know that's not that original. But it was funny. I love nerdy pick-up lines (a la 'I wish I were a derivative so I could lie tangent to your curves').

Well if j07 is a ditz, than I must be one really stupid attorney. I wish all posters were as nonassuming as j07.

Didn't you guys get an email from Pton which explained all the steps you had to take? I got this email yesterday and it includes pretty detailed instructions about how to access your decision online.

Which e-mail is that? I got one on the 20th that looks like
