So I almost had a heart attack when...

So I almost had a heart attack today when in first period, Spanish AP, we recieved our current grades and I had an F. The rest of the day I was beginning to worry that I was gonna get my admission rescinded. I seriously could not think about anything else. I knew I could bring up my grade to a D but up to a C would be nearly impossible. I would have to get 100% credit on every test, quiz, and assignment. Even then I don't think there would be enough of those to help me. My teacher wouldn't be any help either because she seems to really dislike me. A friend tried to calm me down by telling me that his brother was still admitted to UC Davis when he got 2 Fs his senior year. But these were two diffrent schools and that was four year ago. I couldn't help but think about the fact that I could end up at a community college after being admitted to UCSB. I even bought my UCSB sweater two days ago. But as soon as I got home I called the Admissions Office and they told me I was alright. I had already completed my foreign language requirement and as long as I kept a 3.0 GPA I would not have my admissions rescinded. I cannot tell you how relieved I am. Anyway I just had to get that off my chest after having such a horrible day.

BTW what makes the F in Spanish more embarrassing is that Im Mexican-American and speak Spanish fluently at home.

wow so classes which you fufilled requirments for... dont.. count toward that 3.0 thing? in that case i dont have to care about AP stat or AP bio? since i already took care of all my math and science requirments?

btw that kinda sucks that u speak spanish fluently and you have an F, do you try?

glad to hear that, but then how in the world did you get your grade to F considering that you are practically fluent with the language!?

unless he is like me.. and can only speak fluently and not read or write. like i am with chinese

no, the grade does count towards your GPA but my GPA is still above a 3.00.

well like madkapitolist said i can speak fluently(not 100%) but reading and writing is a little harder. also i didnt try very hard in the class. senioritis was killing me. in my other classes i was able to get by but in this class i wasnt able to do the same. and before i realized it i had an F.

How did you get a 3.0 with an F?

he must've gotten all A's in his other subjects. it's possible.

... u cant have a d or f for uc's unless u explain the situation and they say ok

he just explained that he called ucsb and they said since he completed his forgein language requirments they will let it slide.
