So I asked for Information...

I've been contacting my regional representative after I impressed her as well as other students with my deep questions at the meeting in our school.

I asked her to send me catalogs concerning science departments at Notre Dame.

I got a nice package today, and I was really surprised.

I asked her about the Japanese department and AP credit policy.

She actually added pamphlets about abroad programs in Nagoya and Tokyo.

On top of that, there was a nice DVD and a personal note written by her.

I have got to get into Notre Dame.

That brings me to a question.

Is my representative going to go over my application? Or is it just sent straight to the admissions committee?

It is my understanding, though I could be wrong, that your admissions rep actually goes before the admissions committee and argues on your behalf :).

So she actually reads my application first?

If so, then I've got to make my essay shine...

She saw me in person so I'm hoping she'll give me a little bit of help...

Our rep said he reviews all the applications from our area. It's good that you met yours so she can put a face to your application.
Whenever we have spoken to our rep we get the feel that he knows us.

Each area has two (2) reps who review each candidate's application. If they agree on a decision, admit or reject, that is the final decision. If they do not agree, it goes before the committee who then collaborates to make a decision. I guess the dean has the final say so, but I think he is brought in more so for borderline cases.

There ya go. Where did you hear that btw? I doubt doubt it at all, it actually sounds quite reasonable to me other than it differs a little bit from what I heard (I heard every app is read at least 3 times). I just am curious about the source.

See I always thought that all apps went through a preliminary screening... all apps went to a board of 10 people or so and then they put the pile into three stacks.... in ..... out... and middle.... THey barely put any in the out pile so mostly they are in the middle.. then they get sent to the regional reps to be read for final decision....

Thats how I thought it was done.... but i heard this from an unreliable source......
