So I called UCLA Admissions and I think they screwed up!!

Thank you, yeah I saww and that is the course I took! I’m going over today.

I THINK I FOUND ANOTHER MISTAKE.

You know how I mentioned that they told me my 2 biology classes were the same?
I took both those classes for HONORS credit to fufill my TAP. Do you guys think that because they counted those 2 classes as the same class that my TAP was void?

I took Bio 106 (Honors)

[ASSIST Report: CANYONS 10-11 UCLA Articulation Agreement by Major](<a href=“Welcome to ASSIST”>Welcome to ASSIST)

and

Bio 6 (Honors)

[ASSIST Report: LAVC 10-11 UCLA Articulation Agreement by Major](<a href=“Welcome to ASSIST”>Welcome to ASSIST)

Damn that sucks about your situation… I hope you can get it resolved.

I thought you can only complete the honors at one school? Correct me if Im wrong… because I thought different schools have different programs…(scholars, honors, etc)

you might want to change the title of this thread lest you freak out everybody who has been accepted.

good luck!

UPDATE:!!!

So I called them and they said I can submit an appeal and I asked if there was any way to resolve this now. The lady put me on hold and said that I was actually looked at as a Tap applicant. Anyways, she told me that the admissions lady would review my application and let me know at the end of the day, and they asked for my number. Its currently 5:30 and I haven’t received a phone call, doesnt the office close at 4?

***!? :/

did you get her name? call back in the morning, im sure they’re busy as hell

Anyone else think its a bad sign that they said they would call me by the end of the day to let me know and they didn’t and i still have the rejection letter when I check?

^ They probably forgot… you should call back and check

I do not think it is a bad sign. If your case had no merit they would probably have told you very quickly. The fact that it is taking longer probably means they are taking your appeal seriously and are checking into the precise nature of your Biology courses and the Organic Chemistry course taken at the UCLA extension. From an administrative standpoint, it is probably quick and easy to confirm a rejection made by the admissions board but a little more complicated to overturn an original decision from deny to admit.

So I called ucla today and I asked about my phonecall and they put me on hold for awhile then came back and asked me will I also be taking the corresponding labs for my extension classes, and I told them yes, they put me on hold again and came back and said that uc acceptances have already been finalized and they can’t make any changes yet and told
me to submit an appeal starting may 7th, this bad or good?

Do you guys think I should call and try again or I should just wait till May 7th and appeal?

I’d keep calling

But, I dont want the person that i call to put me on hold and go to the same Admissions person and talk about this when that lady already mentioned that I need to submit an appeal. (Honestly, I don’t think i need to since on day 1 they said they’d review my app, then day 2 they asked me if I’ll be taking the labs and I said yes, and they put me on hold and came back and said its too late right now so I need to submit an appeal)

will this jeapordize my chances if I call again?

I was in this same situation last year…they told me I was missing a prereq, but I had indeed taken the class. I even had the dean of my school write a letter explaining that I had took the class and included it with my appeal. No luck, I was still rejected.

Sadly UCLA, as someone else here on CC put it, are the Prereq Nazis and when they have any doubt of anything, you’re dead.

I really hope they accept your appeal/you get in because it will symbolize a win against this kind of injustice.

All The Best!

@ Sandaboy

the thing is I’m in an O-chem class AT ucla extension, and my friend is in the same class as me, same major, and got in with a much lower gpa 3.55.

My gpa is also higher then the average (3.89 vs 3.72), I have pretty decent ECS:, I have TAP, IGETC, and I completed even some of the recommended classes.

@ nabilesmail

Sounds Good! Your chances look bright…keep us updated!

@nabilesmail, do you have any backup schools if you dont succeed in the appeal?

I would wait until May 7 and submit a formal appeal. They probably have a policy of not looking at any appeals until that date which may be when they have scheduled time to specifically look at appeals.

I think you have a strong case in regard to the UCLA Extension classes and could be admitted when they finally allocate time to consider appeals. I think that at this point, as badly as you want this settled now, it would be best to stop calling them since it does not look like they are going to do anything in regards to appeals until May 7 and you could hurt your chances if you antagonize them.

Luvcky for me guys, My friend has a friend that works in admissions and she got me to talk to her supervisor. They said I was missing the Lab component and I explaining that Lab is only offered to extension students during the Summer and that my friend was given a provisional acceptance stating that he had to complete the lab over the summer. She said we generally do not do that and said she’d talk to her superviser. She went into the back and came back and said they also recieved my email and were taking serious note to review my application. She said I would recieve my answer early next week. I asked if I don’t get an email? And she promised me I would get an email early next week ahha. I came home and I recieved an email from UCLA asking what I got in my Winter Courses, confirming my spring schedule and summer schedule. I got a B in Calculus and Analytic Geometry over winter as well as an A- in Chem XL14B. Will this hurt my chances? It lowers my gpa to around a 3.8 (actually maybe it lowers to a 3.9 which is higher then I thought I had, apparently the girl I talked to said I was recorded down with a 4.0, I don’t know if this is my total gpa or just from 1 college as I took courses between 6 community colleges). I also mentioned that I have A’s in all my classes right now (taking 20 units)

6 CCs? lol

I think you’re pretty much good since you know someone on the inside… and you have a friend as an example… I would be very surprised if you got rejected after all this.

well this girl is just a student worker, so she has no power, got all the info up and showed it to her supervisor.
