So I completely forgot about this, but...

...how does housing work? What's the expected plan for transfers? Dorms? Apartments? Are the former guaranteed? Are the latter coordinated through the school? Is there a deadline? Is it arranged after admittance?

I really have no idea about how this is all supposed to work out, so I would REALLY appreciate some guidance.

By the way, since it might matter, these are the UC's I'm applying to:

UCB (Haas)
UCLA (Business Economics)
UCSB (Business Economics)
UCD (Managerial Economics)

Hopefully I don't miss any deadlines. November 30th is approaching and I want want to forget anything. :)

nothing is guaranteed

worry about it after you get accepted

Well, on UCB’s website, it says this:

[Living at Cal - Fall Transfer Students](http://www.housing.berkeley.edu/livingatcal/falltransfer.html)

…iz they lyin? =0

Yeah they guarantee housing, but not the housing you may prefer. In other words, this may mean a triple or some other living situation you do not want.

^ Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what do you mean by, “this may a triple”? o.O

So do all four of these UC’s guarantee housing for transfer students? Also, how much should I be expecting to pay? Does the fee just cover housing alone, or also food? Is it payed concurrently with tuition?

^ Never mind; I get the “triple” thing now. The other questions still stand, though. =]

UCSB recently opened a 900+ bed complex this fall (intended for grad students, but transfers are welcome too) so they’ve been able to guarantee transfer housing:

[Undergraduate Apartments General Information](http://www.housing.ucsb.edu/hchoices/ugrad-general-info.htm)

New transfer students are guaranteed housing if they apply on time. The application process is between April 1 and June 1 each year. Results are available by mid-June. EAP and re-admitted students also apply between April 1 - June 1.

So it looks like I won’t have to worry about housing until next spring. That’s good to hear. sigh of relief
