what does this mean?
does this increase my chances at ucla?

It might indeed. I was ELC, and I got into both UC's I applied to (LA and Berkeley). Some of the UC's admitted all or like a really high percentage of ELC students who applied, and I think even for schools like Berkeley and LA the percentage of ELC who applied and got in was pretty high as well. Maybe someone else has some more exact statistics?

did ucla specifically say that you got ELC there?

I was ELC and got into all of the UC's i applied to incl UCLA. I do know of some one from my high school that was ELC and did not get into UCLA or CAL.
ELC is based on GPA only and her test scores may have been low and she had limited EC's.

I got letters from UCSB and UCR guaranteeing acceptance because of ELC. I also seem to think I got something like that from UCI, can't remember the details on UCI. Last fall seems so long ago.

As you can see from the stats flopsy listed, ELC does not up your chances at UCLA/UCB as much as the other UCs for obvious reasons. But it's a definite plus and at least you know you will be guaranteed a spot in a UC regardless. Good luck!

elc is just for the ucs besides ucsd/ucb.ucla. last year, elc students were offered guaranteed admission to uci.

Yeah ELC is pretty much useless for most people (especially if you are on CC), I would guess.

If you have the GPA to be ELC eligible, then you would probably be pretty competitive (GPA wise) anyways for the higher tier UCs and probably aren't expecting to be rejected from your top choices and using the lower tiers as a safety net just to get into a UC.

ELC basically means you are guaranteed into ONE UC. Of course this could mean Merced. ANyways, you should be a strong applicant considering you got ELC, since earning it means you need a really high gpa.

gl with apps

Being top 4% should get you high chances at LA.

hmm, last year uci and ucsd sent the guaranteed admission letters. and it seemed like all the kids (at my school at least) who were in elc got the regent's scholarship at uci, which is a pretty impressive package. of course, though, elc will give you an edge in the very competitive ucla admissions.

yeah i think most people in elc were given regents at uci and guaranteed admission there..but they werent given guaranteed to ucsd. sd, berk, and la are not guaranteed.
