SO I got freakin' deferred

Does Princeton reject early decision? cuz i have a feeling that princeton doesn't reject early decision...

anyway, i retook the SAT in Dec but idk if i should send in my new scores for RD consideration

my old scores were CR 730, m800, w770

my new scores are: CR 800, m 730, w800

so if i send in my new scores, it'll show that my CR went up, but my math dropped so much, i dont know if it'll be seen as a negative or a positive...

feedback? thanks.

I don't imagine it making a huge difference in the entire scheme of things because your scores were already well in range.

If you were applying RD, I think that it would be very beneficial for the school to see both as the superscore taken for review would be a 2400, but I have no idea what the review process is like when your earlier stats have already been reviewed.

yeah, they rejected like a hundred people. that gives deferrees a lot of hope right? :)

do you think that when they defer people, they expect you to improve in one specific area? i feel like my GPA might have been the weakest part of my application, but its not something i can change significantly in 1 semester...

and also, i'm taking some of the hardest classes right now, so i doubt that i'll be able to improve...

You probably can't really change your overall GPA in 1 semester, but improvement is always good, and if you get the best grades ever in the hardest classes you've ever taken, Princeton will certainly like that.
I know that that's easier said than done, but I think the most you can do right now is to continue working hard.

You should definitely send in your scores (very impressive scores BTW). Other than that, just keep them posted on your accomplishments and keep up in school.

ABSOLUTELY SEND THEM IN!!! Princeton only looks at your HIGHEST score from each section so you basically have a 2400 if you send it in! Also, they understand that you may have had an 'off' day for the math or whatever so that will not hurt your chances. Seriously though...SEND IT IN!

well.. it's easy to lose sight of it on this site, but they didnt defer you because you had a 2300. but a 2400 is impressive anyway so go ahead

I dont think it will improve your chances much, but you should definitely send it in. The difference between your 2400 and the 2300 is really miniscule. The only thing you get is bragging rights (and seriously, its an amazing score). But you didnt get deferred because you had a 2300...when they read your application, they didnt say "this person's SATs are too low." As such, I dont think it will help much. But its definitely a positive thing, and you should send it anyway.

Just a question for curiosity's sake. If you apply early decision and get deferred, but are accepted in the regular round, do you have to attend?

Nope............
