so i got this ridiculous grade..

for my freshman year, i scheduled into college prep classes rather than honors classes because i thought a bad gpa would look worse than not taking rigorous classes. and i did well in the college prep classes..

then i got to my sophomore year and i decided to move up to honors english and AP US History I. i got a decent grade in honors english (B/B+) but my history grade was really bad.. i started out with a 77 as my first mk pd grade.. which is a c-. then it went up then 3rd marking period it went down a couple points again, then by 4th marking period, it went up to 80 which is a C.

this year, i'm getting an A-/A for my AP English III and A-/A in my AP US History II.

UGH will this ruin my chances of getting into an ivy?

Most Ivy admitted students have near perfect GPAs, high test scores, and rigorous classes all 4 years. That doesn't mean you shouldn't apply, but you should definately apply to safeties as well.

How is a 77 a C- and an 80 a C?

Where I'm from a 77 is a C or C+ and an 80 is a B-?

lol my school is a wacky grading system..
our highest weighted gpa is 4.25 out of 4.25
and same for unweighted lol

Wut.........

lol loweryoureyelids

was that "wut" in regards of the gpa?

hmmm, it's definitely not good for your gpa, but i think if your other grades are good, you have high test scores, good ec's and essays, you'll have a shot anywhere.

haha well what if i have a 4.25 gpa, not amazing test scores (1710 was my SAT score but i get higher scores on practice exams so.. ?????), pretty good EC's and leadership, and 400+ volunteer hours?
