So I guess Emory does mail out decisions early..

I GOT IN. I just got my "congratulations. welcome to Emory" packet in the mail today. It's not a big envelope...just really thick. I applied RD. I figured that they'd send out international decision early, but not normal ones. Oh well ; I'm psyched. I haven't logged onto OPUS yet or anything, but i'm pretty excited.

BTW I'm an URM from Philadelphia.

congratulations!

you wouldn't mind sharing your stats, would you?

no problemo. URM from Philadelphia.

SAT I: 1320
SAT II: 700, 670, 660.
APs: 4, 5 (4 more this year).

welcome to the emory crew of 2009 ^^

thats awesome! Congratulations! Should we be expecting to hear back BEFORE April 1 then? or is this only for exceptional candidates/athletes/ URMs/etc etc

well the letter has april 1st on it, so i think they're just starting to send out all the decisions early.

congrats! btw, did you have that opus admissions deposit thing?

jf215: Congrats!! Wondering if you applied for financial aid and if you received anything in that regard with your acceptance letter? Thanks!

yes. and no. it says that it will come in a separate mailing, but it says you can log on to opus and find out. i guess i'll try that later on today. it also comes with a CD to install LearnLink & all that jazz.

PS - i think i found out early because there's an orientation for admitted black & hispanic students ON april 2nd (1 day after the April 1st notification date). so Emory would have to let minorities know whether or not they were accepted WAY before that date to make travel plans & all that stuff.

Hispanic & accepted...just got the letter today

Feels really, really great!

My daughter received her acceptance today also. Same thing. Dated April 1. She is also Hispanic.

congrats everyone!

Lp75: it was dated april 1? that's kind of funny.

so everyone whose been accepted thus far is an URM, right? (i'm just making sure that i should absolutely freak out about not getting anything)

Yay! Just got accepted by e-mail! (I'm an International Student) So excited!

I got in today also. I'm so excited.

Congrats to you all. I got in yesterday. I was getting worried when my two friends got their acceptances tuesday but now I am so happy.

vtoodler, ladybajan: are you guys internationals or URMs??

I'm from the US (missouri).

I am a URM--black specifically.

So far everyone who got decisions is either a URM or an international student...

BTW, has anyone here who have been accepted have above a 1400 and above a 95 average with honors/aps because I have heard that they tend to reject kids with high credentials. They weighlisted a girl from my school last year with perfect stuff and she got into almost every school including princeton, columbia, mit, duke, stanford, etc.

emory accepts people with a good grasp of who they really are. URM are not being accepted because of their race or anything. I want you to realize that scores do not tell everything."
There is a reason why emory is one of the hardest schools to get in (top 20 in hard school to get in on Princetonreview.com)
