So I have a bit of a scheduling dilemma...

As a rising senior, I would like to take Materials Chemistry at a nearby ivy league college, however that specific class conflicts in terms of scheduling with my AP french class. There is only one period of ap french and it overlaps with the materials chemistry. Furthermore I had the same french teacher in junior year as i will in senior year and I am asking her for a rec. Therefore, would it be better to keep the ap french and just drop to general chemistry 1 (a class that I am less interested in), or do you think it is fine to drop french and maybe take it for credit online? I really want a good rec from her though and I am sure that dropping the class would hurt me... please advise me

If you are sure dropping the class will hurt you why even ask? Don’t drop it.

Taking AP French and passing the AP exam will eliminate a grad. requirement at college and possibly give you credit. Materials Chemistry might satisfy a science requirement (not all colleges recognize college credits earned before you graduate high school). If you take the course it will give the teacher a chance to get to know you even more and maybe even see you in a better light since you are taking a difficult course with them. If you take Materials Chem. your professor might do a rec for you, though it could be very generic or bad because they might not know you well or have done many recs. It could also be a good rec.
Make your own choice, neither is bad/good/right/wrong, it’s just what you end up doing.
