So, I have a problem.

Hi. I’m a freshman in High School and I haven’t been doing so well this semester. Because of the virus, the grades this semester will only be our third marking period; the fourth one won’t be taken into account. I did not do so hot on my third marking period.
Anyways, I know I didn’t do so well this year, but if I work extremely hard as a sophomore, junior, and senior, is there a chance I will be able to make it into good schools?

I want to major in Biomedical Engineering on a pre-med track, and I’m wanting to go to University of Virginia (in-state).

Here are my grades for this year:

Algebra 1 - A (4.0)
Geometry - A (4.0)
Algebra 2 - B+ (3.3)
Health & PE - A+ (4.0)
German 1 - A (4.0)
German 2 - B+ (3.3)
German 3 - B (3.0)
Biomedical Science - A (4.0)
Honors English 10 - A+ (4.0)
AP Human Geography - B+ (4.3)
Chemistry - A- (3.7)

You’re overreacting. A B isn’t going to ruin your chances at college. Not only that, most schools are changing their grading systems, so hundreds (if not thousands) of students are likely in your situation.

Do you think it would be beneficial for me to expunge German 3 (my lowest grade) and take it after school next year?

I would not retake a course for which you earned a B, if that is even allowed. Your grades are fine and you have room for an upward trend as you advance through HS.

Retaking a class where you received a B would look like you are grade grubbing which would give a worse impression than the original B grade.
