This was found on the housing website in the FAQ section
In what situation is the application prepayment refunded?

If we are unable to offer you a room assignment for the semester you requested, the prepayment will be refunded. However, if you decide not to live in the UCF facilities and notify the Department of Housing and Residence Life, you will lose the entire prepayment. If you do not respond to, or reject the agreement offer, you lose your entire prepayment.

No, the application agreement/contract says that if he cancels in writing prior to May 1, which he did, he will receive back his deposit MINUS a $100 fee (so he gets a $150 refund). I am not sure how long it will take UCF to process your refund though.
