<p>On another string, it was stated that waitlisted people are given “one week from the date the letter was sent”. Apparently this was included in a letter they received; what wasn’t made clear in the post was whether that deadline was mentioned in the original waitlist offer OR an “acceptance off the waitlist” offer. In either case I am surprised that UVa didn’t state their deadline to you directly at some point, you should go back I think and read carefully all the information they’ve sent you. If the above deadline is true and can be taken literally, I would go from the date of the postmark on the letter they sent you, NOT the day you received the letter. Of course, you can also resolve this question reliably by just calling the admissions office!</p>
