OK i really wanna go to cornell. My grades have had an upward trend since my freshman year. My overall grade is in the 90's. I have an excellent recommendation from someone who has sent many successful kids to the agricultural school before. My SAT's scores are aight but nothing amazing. I have been working with animals since I was young though, and I am involved in many clubs and organizations, including 4-h. I spent last summer doing community service in a poor area with a program through my religion. I do therapeutic horse back riding for the disabled on my weekends, and I have a full course load of all honors and AP, along with music classes.

Are my chances still OK? Or do my not good but not bad sat scores cancel me out??????

I think you have a good shot. Because Cornell's Ag school reviews applicants based on thier major, the adcom looking at animal science applicants will better appreciate a genuine interest in animals. I have a feeling that they would actually admit a student with a strong animal interest but average grades over an academically-gifted applicant with no animal experience or credible interest.

Take the SATs again, and see if you can bring that score up.

i got into cornell for animal sciences and im going this fall. i didnt do amazingly on my SATs either, i was sort of scared at first. didnt think i had much of a chance, but i also worked at a barn and camps and petsmart in the past. and for one of the essays i talked about the development of interest in animals. i think that helped a lot. i feel that cornell admits ppl based on their passion more than anything. it's such a big school, and no doubt that everyone has the caliber, so if you have good past experiences in an sc, it should help you a lot.

Being pre-vet these days isn't easy. I know a lot of previously pre-vet freshman who have decided that they can't handle it and have changed their focuses on their futures.

However, cornell vet school is #1, so if this is truly what you love then Cornell is the place to go.

Also, my father is an equine veterinarian, and went to cornell vet school.
