I'm a high school senior looking for potential majors, and pretty much want to know if engineering would be a good choice for me.
Both of my parents are mechanical engineers, so I know a bit about that. I'm working part time in the large family business of Wire Cloth/Screens/Crushers/etc, but mainly doing filing, paperwork, and computer stuff.
Science is one of my favorite subjects (band is my highest, but i'm not doing any sort of fine arts major) and I'm pretty good at math.
I'm interested in a higher than average salary; I like to travel and I want a few horses when I'm older...

Is there anywhere I can get more information on EnvironmentalE or ChemicalE? These two seem to appeal most to me...

Thanks for anyones help. ^_^
Oh, and I AM female, so please don't call me 'he.'

The University of Minnesota has a strong chemical engineering program both at the undergraduate and graduate level, so you are lucky to have a good in-state school, which perhaps can be your "safety" school. Try browing the U of MN Web site and see what the departments there say about their programs.

The programs I mentioned in my earlier reply are an accelerated math program for middle school and high school students, taught in four locations around the state, and the state's general program to let high school juniors or seniors take college courses for high school credit. You may have been too busy or too far away from the relevant cities to hear about those programs, so don't worry about it. I would definitely look at the U of MN as a school to apply to with the interests you have.

Good luck in your search for information, and in your applications.
