My GPA is pretty low because of some classes I didn’t do good in. I’m a Finance Major that attended UIC for one year then transferred to my local Community College because tuition for UIC was too much.
Right now I have
2.67 Overall GPA
60 Credit Hours
Associates of Arts Degree
I want to transfer to UIUC but I realized my GPA is far below their minimum required. (about 3.40)
My other plan is to transfer back to UIC but I believe their minimum GPA requirement is 3.00
So far I have talked to my academic advisor at the CC I attended and she told my I have a better chance at applying back to my old university (UIC) because I’ve already attended there. She also recommended I take additional classes to not only boost my GPA a little, but will also help towards my major and completely transfer over to any college I would like to attend.
This spring I will by taking Spanish 101 and Principles of Marketing.
My question is this: Should I even bother trying apply to UIUC and UIC because of my low GPA or is there a chance I can still get accepted?
Side Note: The classes that brought my GPA down were math classes (one of them was Business Calc which I withdrew from and took the next semester only to get a D as a final grade). My worst classes were at the CC, not the first university I attended which honestly I found easier than my local CC.
