Ok this is not to scare anyone but I recently rushed for a fraternity, got a bid, was doing great till i became a pledge its basically hell and not worth it. Nonetheless I quit, i just dont see the benefit. But it might be for others. Contact me through private message for details.

My son received a bid from a fraternity but he decided he was perfectly happy being independent. There is plenty of social life available at FSU without having to go through pledging and expense if you decide Greek life is not for you.

One of my friends in TKE told me that they don't do hazing as much as they did in the past, primarily due to FSU cracking down on the Greek scene in light of drinking deaths and whatnot. Is there any truth to this or is hazing in the traditional sense still alive and well?

no, its just the fact that you had to pay to be inferior to the executives, and just to be able to say your part of this organization...honestly just make friends its basically the same thing.

and dont know how much the fraternities are. it might seem expensive but compare the in house dues to room and board that you wont have to pay. alot cheaper.

FSU also offers many professional fraternities and organizations.
For example the accounting/finance co-ed fraternity Beta Alpha Psi only costs $100 per semester. They offer opportunities for community service, socialization and networking with experienced business people in their future career area.

ok so im back at it again...today was spring rush, and once again i decided to test the waters personally this time i'm definitely sticking with it, during fall i rushed with theta chi and after a week i personally hated it, this time around im back with chi phi, i guess i tell you guys how it goes.

well it ended up being phi kappa tau instead lol, i got a few bids and really decided that phi tau would be a better decision, they have been rated the best frat on campus various times so i trust that my decision was a good one...we do have mandatory study hours, 3 each week, and suggested gym hours, meal plan no, thats more for sororities.

if anyone doesn't know about phi tau there located in heritage grove, first house as you come up on the entrance right across from pike.
