So I'm a Business Admin Major in Community College. Question about transfer.

Alright so here is my question.

I'm a Business Administration major at my local community college. Let's say hypothetically that my GPA is not high enough to get into Rutgers (the college I'm hoping to transfer too), but is good enough to get into a non business school.

Because I took courses to allow me to transfer into the business school would that mean I wouldn't be able to transfer into another college even though my GPA was high enough?

This may seem like a stupid question, but thanks.

I’m not sure if transfer admissions policies are the same everywhere, but usually majoring at your community college level is pointless if your point is to transfer. The only reason to have a major at your community college is for you to get an Associates degree from your community college. The reason to attend community college(for transferring purposes) is to take general ed like english math science history etc classes. You take your major classes once you transfer in to X school.

This is what I assumed as well, however, when I began looking at transferring into business programs there is a strict list of course’s you must take before transferring into a 4-year university’s business program.

I’m also planning on majoring in Business Admin. when I transfer to a four-year and pretty much all of my CC’s Business Admin. major courses can be used to fulfill the four-year’s pre-business and Lower-Division Business Core courses. So I figure it can’t hurt to get my AA in Business Admin and then transferring, since it’ll take the same amount of time.

In any event, as long as you’ve met the transfer requirements of whatever school you decide to go to, it won’t matter what your major in at the CC.
