I'm a sophomore at a 3A school in Texas, but I'm graduating early so next year will be my senior year. I plan on majoring in mech. engineering and I'd really like to attend Rose. My calculus professor is a graduate (paleolithic era,I'm sure) and he highly recommends it. I've done a fair amount of looking into the school and it seems like the perfect place for me; but I was wandering if any current students think I may have difficulties... Here are the stats-

Senior sched.

AP Cal AB
AP English
AP Physics
Spanish III Honors
Dual credit History
Dual credit govt. and eco.
PAP Pre-cal

ACT composite of 30 (retaking... and considering I haven't taken calculus yet... I should do better)

Rank- 11/220

ECs: Varsity Cross Country 3 years, varsity track 1 year, science olympiad state finalist, uil district spelling and vocabulary champion (individual 1 year)(team 2 years), Spanish club 3 years (president for one)... more, less essential, haha

I'll have two doctorate recommendations, including an alumnus.. So that should help.

So... Am I in??? Thanks alot guys.

Well I applied to Rose-Hulman with the thought that I'd probably not get in but I thought, what the hell, lets apply anyways. Somehow I got accepted and my ACT score is like 5 points less than yours, a lot of ECs but not a lot of dedicated ECs, had leadership though, and all honors courses with the only AP course offered at my school. My rank was like 11/74...soooo by comparing us, I think you have a really good shot.

I don't usually respond to "chances" threads, because I don't have any inside information, but I do have one piece fo advice if you're applying to Rose-Hulman: Apply early (September or October).

Rose-Hulman has rolling admissions, and if you apply early you will get your decision fairly rapidly. This helps you because if you're accepted, it takes a lot of pressure off, and if you are rejected, you'll be able to focus on other colleges. Anecdotally, it appears that early applications may have a better success rate, too.

Both of my kids (twins) were accepted at Rose last year, and one will be attending this fall. So far, I've been very impressed by everyone I've met at Rose - students, faculty, and staff.
