for freshman admission.

I've been calling multiple times a week since I was notified and I always leave messages. My teachers sent out two more letter of reccommendation for me last week, so they should be there by now.

I'm supposed to be notified by mid April or so.

I'm really nervous and I was wondering if anyone had more advice that would increase my chances of getting accepted.

Any takers?

Thank you!

For whom have you been leaving messages, your regional rep or someone else in admissions? Also, has anyone said how many are on the waitlist? This can really affect your chances of acceptance after they have determined how many acceptances they have and how many spots are left.

All I can say is just keep letting them know you want to go there.

Do you have a second choice and how late can you let your back-up school know?

Agree with iflyjets-our regional admissions rep. is terrific-so if it were me, I would be sure to both call and email your designated person. Since I see you live in SC, have you inquired as to whether the school would allow you to attend acceptee student days? I know the one this coming Friday is full, but there are three more and you can always make your case in person.

If you have had contact with professors in certain departrments, it might not hurt to "work" that angle as well. If you have received any honors or awards since application, have GC call admissions about that. Good luck-Furman is a marvelous school and in the top 3 for our twins!

I have been calling my regional representative. :)
I hadn't thought about the acceptee student days. Thank you for the suggestion! I will call them.

One of my reccommendatoins is from a Furman alumni and the other is from the wife of a professor there (I think). On the little card they sent me it said last year there were about 300 (or maybe it was 400. I'm not sure.) on the list and 20 to 30 were accepted. :x

My second choice is Guilford College. The lastest I have to notify them is May 1st, so I'm cutting it pretty close.

Thank you both. :)

Guilford is a great college too! And cheaper!

Syringa-Ditto what Lukester says-Guilford is a great school and the campus is beautiful. My parents lived two miles from the college when I was away at school- I remember how much the students loved the school.

Any luck attending accepted student days at Furman? There are 2 this week and the final one on the 21st. Good luck in your efforts-both schools are terrific and don't forget, you can always transfer-that is what I keep telling our twins!
