I had 25 colleges first, and now I have narrowed it down to 16 colleges.
2 more elimination to go, and I just cannot eliminate school due to my anxiety over rejection!

I plan to go to med-school, and need good research/internship oppurtunities. I'm kinda thinking eliminating Penn State, but some people have told me the acceptance rates to med-school from Penn state are decent, is that true? Sould I eliminate Penn state or what

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What state are you a resident of, or are you international? UVA is difficult if you are not a Virginia resident. Georgia Tech and William and Mary are different from most of your schools, so maybe they should be eliminated- unless you have real reasons for thinking that you would like them. Good state schools fill up fast, so apply as early as possible.

The first thing to do is to really think about what you want from a college/university. What would your ideal college experience be? Take your time on this question.

Then research, research, research! That means look on the school websites, maybe look at some of the sections on CollegeConfidential (maybe), look at guidebooks, ask current students questions. (Don't go to studentsreview.com)Do it for every single one of your schools, until you can come up with at least two good reasons to eliminate.

Keep doing this until you have 10 colleges.

It takes time and lots of effort, but then again, this is a big decision.

Your list is mostly made up of large or good-sized universities (mostly public, a few private). William and Mary is a liberal arts college. Georgia Tech is a technical university. That is why I felt as if they are "different". If you really think that you would like them, then it's not a problem. It just seemed that general universities are your preference.

Incidentally, I think you're likely to be in at all these schools and you can consider most of them to be safeties. From Penn State down, you could probably choose two and drop the others.
