I going to be enrolled at UMD in the Spring 2007 as a transfer freshman. Can anyone tell me the likelihood of where I am going to stay? Ive heard rumors that Ellicott and Easton are the two most popular residences where transfers end up. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

wait did u apply as a transfer and hear back already? when did u apply?

No, I was accepted for spring 2007, but will be transferring from W&M.

wow. congrats. how did u find out so early? when did u apply? have any advice/suggestions for me?

It looks like it could be bad news for on-campus housing. But I have some friends who live in University View and love it! Although it seems like it may be more expensive - you don't have to buy an on-campus dining contract - which is a BIG plus! My friends may catch a lunch on camppus with cash - but generally cook for themselves in a wonderful full sized kitchen and its a lot cheaper. The on-campus dining contract is a big rip off. They have these "focus dates" which are budget points - and if you haven't used ebough of your $, they take it away from you! The first focus date was a few weeks ago and I lost $60. The next one comes up this Friday and it looks like if I don't eat like crazy this week (geeze - I'm trying to avoid the fresh 15 here!) I'm going to lose another $200.

Anyway - there are nearby housing options which offer advantages - but see the Diamondback (campus newspaper) article below about housing. Transfers go on a waiting list.

so can anyone hint me where the new freshmen in spring 2007 will be living on campus??

NOTE: not the transfer freshmen, the NEW freshmen, C/O spring 2011

HI
My son applied to University of Maryland
If they offer him Spring admission instead of Fall , I hear housing is impossibleand he probably will not get it
What exactly is University View? Is it a private dorm?
Thank You

Roberto, if I may ask, why are you transferring from W&M?

im transferring from w&m because MD just has that sense of school spirit and unity that w&m doesnt have. i love going to the games and seeing the student secion sea of red, partying, and i plan on pledging next year. also, MD has a far superior business program than w&m

I called up the housing department and they said they were "very optimistic" about housing all the spring admits. They said that they were able to last year. I'm still not taking any chances though, I'm going to try to do everything possible to make sure I get housing.

umd football games are the BEST EVER!!!
