I love my best friend to death, and she loves dartmouth to death, and I REALLY want to see her get in. I almost feel like i'd rather her get in to her #1 choice than me get into mine (princeton). I'm writing her rec and I have to have this PERFECT! Thus, I'm asking for tips. Is there such a thing as too much flattery?? Would talking about her interest in dartmouth and her love of outdoors be stupid? Exactly what would you have wanted your friend to put in yours??

You should concentrate on what makes your friend a special person to you - what qualities make her stand out? THey are looking for another perspective on her that her transcript and teacher recs don't give them. It can be personal. I think the point of the peer rec is to get a better sense of who your friend is. YOu can add the "she loves Dartmouth stuff" at the end, but the body of your essay should make the admissions people interested in the person your friend is. (DD's best friend wrote her peer rec on how DD motivated the friend to push herself and set higher goals.) Good luck to both of you!
