So I'm writing UC Admission essay about religion...

A little bit of context, I went to a Catholic school that tolerated other religions. We had a unit that talked about the different religions of the world such as Islam, Catholicism, Shintoism, Buddhism and Hinduism. We examined each religions without any bias. We talked about the five pillars of Islam, the two different sects of Buddhism etc. It was an eye opening experience for me and I felt that I was really interested in this field of research. Now to the UC question,

Think about an academic subject that inspires you. Describe how you have furthered this interest inside and/or outside of the classroom.

In which case, I chose Comparative Religious Studies

I know, I know. The class I took wasn’t Comparative Religious Studies but Social Studies. It counts right?

Although I only mentioned similarities between Islam and Christianity, I think I should add more religions.

To the question, Do you think this type of religious essay will anger or put the reader into a negative state? I’m a senior BTW.

I don’t anticipate it angering the reader unless you write the essay as an attack of a religion. The more important thing is making sure you describe how you applied this inspiring subject to your own life.

Thanks, hopefully the readers aren’t biased :frowning:

I think that topic is probably fine.
